RESEARCH AT UNIBA

Basic research as part of Uniba research aims to improve theories and understanding or prediction of phenomena of nature, society, economy, etc. Driven by curiosity and a desire for new knowledge, basic research serves as the fuel for the innovations of applied sciences studied at UniBa. He tends to generalize knowledge about isolated phenomena as of interest, and in his philosophy seeks to gather as much knowledge as possible.

The opposite of basic research, as another component of scientific research, is applied research that aims to solve everyday problems, whose results have an immediate and practical effect.

Basic research studies specific, individual, non-generalizing cases and experiences identified by academics or students, recognizing the fact that variables are constantly changing. Whereas the research applied requires generalizations of concrete situations assuming that the variables do not change.

UniBa core research is closely linked to academic experience and has a major impact on student life and future because it updates academics' knowledge, making it a transfer of high quality knowledge, adding supporting teaching materials to the auditorium with contemporary and encouraging findings, thus encouraging investment.

BASIC SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

Uniba offers not only the academic campus but also the contemporary space and structure of the innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem for basic and applied research. Uniba trains students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills and competencies through its ecosystem.

Focusing on well-defined areas, UniBa research not only expands knowledge but also leads innovation in general. Basic and applied research are not strictly separated but are joined and help each other. Basic research forms the basis of the great discoveries that push and support the findings of applied research.

Research and innovation support

The purpose of basic research is to gather information on how nature and humans interact, without focusing on whether the findings are used for practical solutions. It aims to improve and expand the understanding of phenomena and facts. Basic research by expanding knowledge leads to innovation. Basic research is the preamble to applied innovation and research. Many basic researches end with practical inventions paving the way for future innovative projects from which society benefits a lot. Innovative research at UniBais supported not only by incentive strategies and policies but also by university grants as well as national and international projects won through competitions, based on merit and experience in the fields in question. The quality of the academic staff and the modern infrastructure of UniBa are strong pillars of scientific research as well.

Responsible research and innovation

Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI) is an approach that anticipates and assesses inclusion and societal expectations regarding research and innovation, in order to foster inclusive and sustainable research and innovation design. This approach means that social actors (researchers, citizens, policymakers, businesses, third sector organizations, etc.) work together throughout the research and innovation process in order to better align both the process and its results with values, the needs and expectations of society. UniBa, from the beginning, has made it part of its philosophy- thinking about the broad social, economic, political and environmental impact of scientific research. In practice, like the best examples, RRI implements it as a package that includes the involvement of many actors and public in research and innovation, the establishment and observance of gender equality and ethics in content and process, and formal and informal scientific education .

Knowledge transmission

The transmission of knowledge also makes the connection of research and projects with the academic offer. UniBa enriches its academic offer from year to year, building new basic and multi-disciplinary study programs, in accordance with the demands of the labor market and the development of contemporary knowledge. Mutual connection of knowledge and results of implemented projects, generates new ideas for curriculum improvements, formulation of new study programs, training packages, qualification systems of the institution's staff and beyond. In this way, the institution develops new skills of scientific and professional expertise in service of the requirements of institutions and public administration for both academics and students.

Technology transfer

UniBa aims to produce knowledge that carry an important application element and this idea permeates work and research plans in drafting their conception and implementation and serves as a test of research efficiency. On the other hand, the institution studies and formulates the building of the unit that promotes and supports innovation in implementation, starting from the initial patent to the project and business plan of the application as an enterprise or in the commercialization of new knowledge or new discoveries. The experience of successful completed projects supports the entry and participation in national and international projects, followed by new elements of innovation and entrepreneurship. The institution prepares the nuclei of specialists in innovation design and preparation of innovative entrepreneurial initiatives.
