Barleti University, as a non-public institution of higher education, started its activity in 2005 by graduating a large number of successful students. It was founded andled by a Board of Directorsmade of well-known intellectuals from the “world” of science and politics in Albania.
UniBa offers a wide range of programs in different levels of study, such as professional programs, Bachelor programs, Professional Master and Master of Science. It aims to offer doctoral studies in the future. The programs offered by UniBa are accredited and re-accredited in accordance with the legislation in force.
UniBa aims to create the model of the applied university, which performs its activity based on five main pillars, as follows: Academic Pillar, “Focus on Student” Pillar, “Applied Research and Innovation” Pillar, the Corporate and Administrative Pillar and the Entrepreneurial Pillar. During this decade, it also aims to become a digital institution.
"Barleti" University as a non-public institution of higher education started its activity in 2005 based onDecree no. 571, dt. 12.08.2005 “On granting permission for the opening of the Non-Public University Higher School“ Marin Barleti University ”initially with two faculties and five study programs: Faculty of Foreign Languages and Faculty of Applied Mathematics.It started its activity in the academic year 2005 - 2006 while the first diplomas were awarded in 2008.
On 12.04.2006, with Decision no. 2365 Prot., The Ministry of Education and Science approved the opening of two other faculties and six new programs: the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Humanities.
"Barleti" University was the first institution of higher education in Albania to organize the study program in “major’’ and “minor’" where the student was given the opportunity to choose a package of courses within his field of study. This makesthe degree multidimensional and closer to market needs.
In 2009 the Council of Ministers approved the opening of the study programs "Master of First Level" (MNP). In the same year, the request of the institution for the opening of new study programs in the "Second Level Master" (MND) was approved. To implement contemporary programs and curricula, UniBa collaborated with international specialists. In particular, the interest and consultation of the academic staff initially focused on three foreign universities: the American University of Cairo, the London School of Economics (LSE) and the International University of Vienna (IU).
Also in 2009, the university was institutionally accredited with the Order of the Minister of Education and Science, No. 288, on 04.09.2009.
In 2010, for an organization and functioning in contemporary standards, Mr. Michael Totterdell, Director of the Management Center for Leadership Development in the University of Plymouth in England, was engaged in the position of the Vice-Rector.
On25.05.2015,had two faculties: the Faculty of Law and Social and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Economics.
In 2016, by decision of the Accreditation Board for "Determining the duration and deadlines of accreditation in the framework of decision-making for the accreditation of Higher Education Institutions and Study Programs", in the framework of cooperation between The Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania and the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education in the United Kingdom), Barleti University has received Positive Assessment and Institutional Accreditation with a duration of six academic years, which is also the longest duration possible on the basis of higher education.
In 2017 the Accreditation Board of the Quality Assurance Agency in Higher Education, gave positive evaluation for the Institution of Non-Public Higher Education Institution, , "Marin Barleti University" with a duration of 6 (six) academic years the longest duration ever.
In 2020 UniBa, with the Order of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, No. 213, dated 03.07.2020 on the Institutional Reorganization of Shluj "Marin Barleti University", changed into "BarletiUniversity ".
Currently, with the Order of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, No. 213, on 03.07.2020 on the Institutional Reorganization of Hei "Marin Barleti University, UniBa has been reorganized ".
The current academic structure of UniBa is composed of 3 (three) faculties and 10 (ten) departments. UniBa currently has 36 study programs: 12 study programs (diploma) Bachelor, 18 study programs (Diploma) Master of Science and Professional Master and six 2-year university programs (Professional Diploma).
From 2008, 3879 students have graduated from Barleti University, in the Bachelor and Master cycle. They are successful in the labor market with an employment rate of 82%, in the public sector, the private sector and international or non-profit organizations, or in the international market. For example our Alumni students have continued in-depth studies at the Master level abroad as in the Swiss School of Economic (Verbier Switzerland) Business Administration, Swiss School of Economic (Verbier Switzerland) Business Administration, Athens University of Economic and Business , Greece etc.
