Instituti Shqiptar për Çështjet Publike në bashkëpunim me Ambasadën e Mbretërisë së Hollandës në vendin tonë organizon në periudhën 25 nëntor-10 dhjetor 2014 iniciativën “Movies That Matter Marathon” në kuadër të projektit HEART. Gjatë këtyre ditëve në ambientet e UB-së do të shfaqen disa filma që trajtojnë çështjet e të drejtave të njeriut. Kjo iniciativë është e hapur edhe për pjesëmarrës jashtë UB-së.

Kalendari i shfaqjes së filmave në UB :

25 nëntor, ora 12.00 (Kampusi I), Sound of Torture
Is an impressive documentary about the hundreds of Eritreans held hostage in the Sinai dessert in Egypt. Radio host Meron Estefanos uses her program ‘Voices of Eritreans’ to fight for their liberation. The documentary focuses on the stories of two hostages, pregnant Hiriyti and 20-year-old Timnit. The documentary is spoken partly in Arabic (see attachment for a more comprehensive description)

27 nëntor, ora 17.00 (Kampusi II), A river changes course
(Cambodia, business and human rights, human rights and development)
Documentary about an indigenous Cambodian community trying to maintain a traditional lifestyle within a rapidly emerging economy and industry. The film shows the radical changes confronting the indigenous communities. While once self-sufficient, families are now increasingly incapable of supporting themselves and young people move to the big city to work in one of the many factories.

(Cuba, freedom of expression)
Confronting documentary about the Cuban underground rap duo Los Aldeanos. Through music, the duo denounces injustices in their country. The documentary shows the difficult situation for freedom of expression in Cuba. Two youngsters even end up in jail because of listening to their music.

(Rusland, equal rights for LGBT, use of social media)
Moving documentary on issues facing Russian LGBT youth, the way they deal with the recent ‘anti-gay law’ and the general homophobic climate in Russia. Through online interviews and video-diaries, forty-five young LGBT Russians open up about their experiences of discrimination and violence.

10 dhjetor, ora 13.00, (Kampusi I) Eufrosina’s revolution
(Mexico (Oaxaca), equal rights for women, political participation of women)
The indigenous woman Eufrosina struggles for equal rights and better living conditions in Oaxaca, Mexico. When Eufrosina is elected mayor, local legislation bans her from exercising her office because she is a woman. Eufrosina defies local traditions by championing equal rights and by becoming the first indigenous woman to be elected a delegate and president of the Congress for the National Action Party (PAN).
